Lonely White Mages

I started to level my white mage job today. I was tedious. I am glad that I can travel short distances again to sell the stuff the Beastmen drop. I quickly made back everything I spent in spells and the robe for the new job. It was funny to see my Red Mage job at level 2 since it was at 20 a few hours ago. Aparently my subjob can only equal half of my Main Job so I plan on leveling my White Mage to level 10 and then I can be a level 20 Red Mage and a level 10 White Mage. Sounds cool.

Other than the slow process of leveling my white mage things have been fairly dull since I returned to Bastok.

One More

I will stay in Selbina one or two more days so I can reach my 20th level as a Red Mage. Then I will head back to Bastok and change to my White Mage. When I reach my 10th level as a White Mage I will change to my Red Mage job and subjob as a White Mage. This will give me some extra benefits and spells I can learn since I can use both works. I really appreciate the mans explanation from the other day. I think this can really be a powerful tool.

I think going back and starting at a young level will let me earn some good cash again. Perhaps I can increase my savings from 50 to 100 thousand gil as I pick up all the things the beastmen drop.

Bitter Sweet

I have spent the last couple days in the Valkurn Dunes with parties of travelers trying to gain experience. I reached a fair level 19. These are some good times. I was able to learn Fire and Enstone for which I am very greatful. It is good to have most of the spells to counter the elements.

I stayed in Selbina and met an old and weary adventurer. He had stopped his days of combat but he was willing to share a secret with me if I could prove my worth to him as an adventurer. I agreed because I am eager to learn anything that will make my job easier. I have heard of him from others and collected the items he requested before I even spoke to him. To honour him though, I decided to give him the items one at a time over a few hours interval. He was overjoyed and told me I could have a subjob! I was amazed at this but I remember that I really have no other jobs so I will have to head back to Bastok, talk to my Moogle and start learning a new job.

*sigh*

Bitter sweet I suppose. It is great in the long run but nothing I could use right away.

Sleepless in Windurst

I made my way off the boat last night. Today I awoke in the coastal town. I looked around but there is really nothing there. A couple shops, an in and the docks. I left Mhaura and set out to Windurst. It was a long trek but a lot of interesting new things to look at. Scenary I have never seen. I passed the Crag of Mea noting to pick up a crystal from its strange glowing teleportation pad.

I went through the pass. Things felt similar to my travels in and around Bastok. The lands around Windurst were beautiful compared to the vast tundra around Bastok. Huge trees that bear fruit the size of an elephant and strange creatures dotted the land.

While in Windurst I checked my sales at the Auction Houses. Wind Crystals have been selling lower so I had to resubmit a few stacks of them. I made a homage to all the lcoal magic stores. I found great deals on Shell and Fire.

I visited the Bastok consulate and they instructed me on a strange mission to drop an offering for the beastmen that control the surrounding areas. I suppose its to keep the peace. I met a nice Mythra on the way to drop off the offering who saved my life. She helped me in and out of that mess. I should have been doing this later I felt. I was too weak and not experienced enough to handle the powerful beastmen of the area.

I finished my business with Windurst. I may not come back for a while. It is a large town that seems hard to navigate for me. I boarded the next ship from Mhaura to Selbina after stopping by the Crag of Mea.

A Travelin' Man

It takes many hours to invest in finding a good party of people in any area if you need to bee in a party. I tried to repeat the other days performance with another group but they ended up all leaving. I hopped on a boat to Mhaura from the docks at Selbina. What a ride! I have never traveled on a boat before. I was traveling with a few other folks.

I am eager to get to Windurst. I am glad I bought maps for all the areas before I left. All this traveling is going to be exciting. I will try and see if I can get done with Windurst soon. Perhaps they have some spell scrolls I am looking for that I may be able to buy while there.

Journey Far and Beyond

I was doing the usual hunting in the Kaschtacht Highlands today. I have been hunting Huge Wasps and Mist Lizards and taking the items they sometimes leave behind to the auction house. The going was slow and it was going to be a long time before I was to see my next level of 15.

I suppose it was actually exciting to have an oppurtunity to leave the boring world of farming and try to earn some more experience. I liked the idea of seeing some new scenery. A fella named Redzenith contacted me asking me if I was interested in joining a party in the Valkrum Dunes.

I was weary of this. The Dunes are sudden death to the unfamilier traveler. The Koschtacht Highlands were fairly hard themselves even if I did mind my presence around the Quadevs, Skeleton Sorcerors and Bogies. I accepted. I feel I am doing ok financially and the nice change in activities will be worth it. I hope.

I made my way to the Dunes easily. Once I arrived I spoke to a San D'Orian guard and asked her to please have myself returned to her post if I should become incapacitated. I walked through the cave and ran to the Outpost. There I met the team. They were all eager to find and hunt the Beastmen of the area.

After a few hours we finally found a good method and we had killed many beastmen without incident.

After the exciting day I returned to Selbina. It feels safe and I will stay there until I decide to either go hunt some more or travel to Windurst and San D'Oria on my mission.

The Never Ending Quest

I have finally sold off all my wares in the Auction House except 5 stacks of Wind Crystals. I get very excited as the prices reach my asking price but then they drop as someone floods the market with cheaper ones. I am willing to wait I suppose.

I spoke to a lady in front of Cid's office today and she told me that she and her associate are doing an experiment, She wanted us to meet the fella in North Gustenburg along with 5 other adventurers all at an early level below 5.

I figured this would be a quick quest but it turned into the quest that would never end. First a fella wouldn't switch jobs so he left our group. It was sort of rude and I am not sure why he was unwilling to finish the quest. Perhaps some elements of intelligence were missing?

Our 6th person the following day was also a little slow but we finally got out to North Gustenburg. We talked to the woman's associate by the falls and each recieved 500 Gil for participating. Apprently the two are trying to create a touring business and they are trying to see if it would be worth it.

I went back to Bastok, re-equipped my Red Mage gear and went to bed.

Milestone

As I entered Kashatan Highlands today I was weary. I was nearly slaughtered by a Mist Lizard but a freindly passer byer swung his gitant sword and killed it in one blow. I was lucky.

I heard rumors of Ghosts and Goblin Tinkerers but I saw none of these. THe skies were cloudy and the wind was blowing hard. I completed my tasks for Cid and made a crystal faded in the giant Crag that sits in the Highlands. I stayed only breifly to have enough experience to reach a prime job level of 14. I quickly learned Cure II, Slow and Aero. I made my way back to Bastok.

I think this is where my job becomes interesting. I finally have spells that greatly make my importance to a party great and I can go adventuring on my own with more confidence. I replaced my old Short Bow with a Self Bow. Its sturdier construction and larger form trippled the damage I can do to enemies.

I admit that 50,000 Gil is meager when compared to anyone else adventuring but for I it was a huge milestone. I have never before held such wealth. I am sure that a new set of armour or some nicer furniture will quickly swallow these amounts but in my last experience in Bastok I rarely ever had more than enough to buy one item. I have all I think I need at this stage and have modestly furnished my home and I still maintain a good amount of cash. I simply do not wish to repeat my old mistakes and travel to Jeuno and not be able to complete the Chokobo Quest because I was short 600 Gil. Those were sad time.

I really like the idea of manufacturing items and selling them but I am having a difficult time deciding which items to manufacture. Should I start in Alchemy? Maybe Gold Smithing? How about Black Smithing? Or perhaps I should travel to San D'Oria and start Wood Working or Cloth Working. I am not sure but I need to make that choice soon.

Sleepin' on the Floor

What an exciting day! I made my usual rounds out by the Feramoles. I came back into Bastok. The day was sunny and many other adventurers were milling about. White Mages are maging a good business out of Teleporting folks because I here them offering their services all the time. Not only was the Auction House busy but a lot of people were sitting by the huge fountain selling their wares they found on their adventures. I saw one lady selling Raise III for a million Gil! It was quite a treat though to see all the other massively expensive things that perhaps one day I can afford.

No more sleeping on the floor for me. I decided to decorate and make my living conditions a little more pleasant. I have a a fair amount of Gil saved up so I bought a Brass Bed, a Windurstian Water Pot and a Book Stand. My Moogle really loved it. Apparently Moogles can unlock the magical energy within furnishings and they pass it to you during your adventures. I think they are just happy to see things other than barren walls!

Big Decision

I've had continued success at the Auction House. I traveled to and from my Mog House and the Auction House has I finalized some sales. I am running out of things to sell. Now that I have learned enough of my job to become level 12 things are Too Weak to Be Worthwhile. I have to make a choice now and I am unsure how to proceed. Should I move to more worthwhile areas where the Beastmen offer more experience for me or should I let myself stay where I am at for a while until I feel I have enough saved up to do so?

Maybe I should stay at this level and finally furnish my home. I don't even have a bed yet.

For Bastok!

I crusaded for Bastok and collected 4 parts to some strange doll that the Quedevs have been using in some religious ceramony. I took these parts to the guard at Bastok and my position in Bastok went up. I think they are all starting to remember me when I talk to them. Heheh its nice to be recogized.

I have had great luck in the Auction House as usual. I have used some change and bought maps for the mines and the other great nation of San D'Oria. This will make later trips into the unknown easier for me.

I replaced my Spath for a Bee Spatha. I appreciate the greater damage it inflicts and it seems to weild a little quicker than my regular Spatha I just put up for sale.

Relaxation in Bastok

To be honest I simply wondered the streets. I didn't really want to go out and battle and I really didn't want to talk to a lot of people. I did make it to a pub in the Ports of Bastok and some Food venders outside. Some items sold at the auction house and I made the trip there to place some other things up for sale and then to my Mog House to pick up the Gil from the sales.

Warm Days, Cool Nights

Things are going really well. I had a great couple days at the Auction House. I think my ideas behind "farming" all the low level beasts has been paying off. I waited until I reached my eleventh level as a Red Mage and broke down and bought a Doublet and all the matching level 11 armour I could find. It looks nice!

To be honest this was really easy. I didn't need better armour until now because all the beasts I hunted were Easy Prey anyway. I think the real downer is when folks go crazy and try to to learn their jobs too quickly and they don't invest enough time to create a good source of income.

I also collected some stamps for a boy who gave me a Leather Gorget for my Neck as a reward. That was awesome. I ventured out to the Palburough Mines as well but after my entire party was slaughtered by a Quedev I decided to start my lonesome adventures again. I went to the top of Zalkin Hill and dropped off a bouqet at the monument for a fella I met a the Inn in the Mines District, and spent the rest of the day hoarding whatever low level stuff I could find. I think I am going to take a few days break and stroll the streets of Bastok shopping and talking to folks.
